Leiqui Uriana has directed documentaries such as El cedrón, made in the Sierra Maestra in Cuba, and her degree film Asuntos indígenas. She also participated as filmmaker in the documentary series Ser un ser humano (To Be A Human) (2011), produced by the EICTV with the support of six film schools from around the world, for which she contributed three episodes about Colombia concerning the Wayuu people.
She worked as Assistant Producer for Pájaros de verano (Birds of Passage) (Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra, 2017) and in General Production for El regreso al mar de mis muertos (Return to the Sea of My Dead) (Esteban García Garzón, 2019, awaiting premiere).
