Several events have contributed to Indigenous Cinematics. In 2018, FICMAYAB’, the International Indigenous Film and Media Festival coordinated by Red Tzik’in in collaboration with CLACPI, facilitated a space during FestiLab for a workshop on audiovisual translation, collaboration and Indigenous cinema.
The 2019 Latin American Studies Association (LASA) Congress afforded the opportunity to share new research on language ecologies and the building of audiences for Latin American and Indigenous cinemas. Finally, the 2020 Mother Tongue Film Festival provided the stage for the premiere of the four films translated and subtitled into English during the project. These films are now available to stream with English subtitles here.
