In response to the COVID-19 crisis, the Indigenous Cinematics residencies will take a remote, digital form, aiming to fortify the creative processes of four Indigenous filmmakers during this period of social distancing and self-isolation. The residencies seek to support projects which have been prompted or thwarted by the pandemic. They also seek to extend a concept of Indigenous cinema beyond the final product, as relationship and experience, in order to foreground Indigenous methodologies and epistemologies. The digital residencies are a place where the selected filmmakers can share, exchange, debate, build and develop new film projects.
Four Indigenous filmmakers and producers from Latin America have been selected to take part in these residencies. Each will take over a designated page of this website, documenting their creative process with film, audio and reflections.
