We have published a press release about the call for films to translate and the final selected works on the CLACPI website.
The four selected works translated and subtitled as part of this specific activity are:
- Kat At Kat’ex/ ¿Dónde Están? (Eduardo Mutzumá Say, Colectivo Cine en la Calle, 2017)
- Kiñe rupa (capítulo primero, Kiñe) (Andrea Salazar, Lucía Pérez y Marilen Llancaqueo, 2018)
- Puhi toprao/Estar feliz (Carol Cazares, 2018)
- Tata Jenaru Uajpa/Hijo de Don Jenaro (Raúl Máximo, 2019)
The films are all very different in style and subject matter and seen together invite a discussion as to the politics of audiovisual translation and ethics.
A roundtable and screening session will take place during the Mother Tongue Film Festival in Washington DC from 20-23 February 2020, where we will discuss the importance of reaching different audiences and how to develop further translation initiatives between Indigenous languages.
