Filmography

María’s first feature documentary, Bankilal (Older Brother) (2015), was selected in a wide range of national and international film festivals, including the Native sidebar at the 65th Berlinale (2015), the 18th International Film Festival of Valdivia (Chile), the VI Ethnographic and Testimonial Film Festival in Porto Alegre (Brazil), and Edinburgh International Film Festival (2015).

 

 

In 2019, Tote (Grandfather) premiered at Morelia International Film Festival, where the film was awarded Best Women’s Documentary FIlm. Tote has screened at many festivals, including Ambulante screenings; Contra el silencio todas las voces; the LASA Film Festival; Tucson Cine México in USA; and ¡Viva! Spanish & Latin American Festival 2020 in Manchester, among others. It has also screened at the Cineteca Nacional and the UNAM Filmoteca (Mexico).
